Our Story

Know My Fit was born in 2023 in the vibrant city of Adelaide, Australia, driven by the shared vision of two sisters, Zoe and Nikki. It was a moment of realization that brought us together – the realization that we were not alone in our quest to find clothing that truly embraced our unique shapes. Our bodies, we knew, were not anomalies, yet it felt like the fashion industry had overlooked us, along with countless others.

In response to this common struggle, we embarked on a mission to redefine the fashion experience, determined to spare individuals the frustration of leaving fitting rooms empty-handed, feeling like outsiders in their own bodies. And so, Know My Fit was conceived.

Our journey was marked by heartfelt conversations around the dinner table, spirited participation in startup competitions aimed at gaining mentorship and funding, and, to be honest, a fair share of setbacks. But as they say, every cloud has a silver lining! Despite facing adversities, we found ourselves competing in a competition called Fish Tank, a local startup challenge akin to Shark Tank. Even with Zoe battling COVID, her unwavering dedication secured our victory and a year’s worth of business mentoring from Business SA.

Our path has not been without obstacles. Funding the website’s development was a challenge, designers initially turned down our idea, and we had to acquire new skills and invest time to overcome these hurdles. The pivotal moment came when we looked at our business from the designers’ perspective and engaged with our first market, Bowerbird Market, anticipating rejection from most, if not all. To our delight, it was a success!

While we are still in the process of refining our website to be designer and customer-friendly, we envision Know My Fit as a hub for all Australian fashion designers (with global expansion plans) and a sanctuary for customers seeking clothes that embrace their individual bodies, rather than the other way around.

Our Mission

At Know My Fit, our mission aligns with the concept of a circular economy, where we aim to positively impact multiple facets of the fashion industry. Here are our primary objectives:

For Designers:

  • Provide a platform for Australian fashion designers, making them easily accessible to customers.
  • Support designers in growing their businesses by offering a supportive community, resources and marketing assistance.

For Customers:

  • Establish a destination that enables customers to make informed, ethical clothing choices
  • Support the discovery of clothing that truly complements their body type and preferences
  • Make clothes shopping and the wearing of clothes a positive experience

The Supply Chain:

  • Educate the Australian community about the fashion industry’s impact, from material sourcing and fabric production to the end-of-life cycle for clothing.
  • Raise awareness about the environmental consequences of fashion consumption and promote sustainable clothing recycling.

We are passionate advocates for slow fashion, ethical production and with a goal of helping the Australian community to make eco-conscious choices while shopping. We invite you to join us on this remarkable journey as we strive to transform the world of fashion into one that is inclusive, sustainable, and empowering for all.
